While not particularly suited for driving directions etc. they do strike me as beautiful and with an Indiana Jones-movie like charme. As with many Apple products, they don&#8217;t do everything, but what they do\u2014add flair to a photo collage\u2014they to well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-photos\/2012-03-17\/apple_maps_01.png\" class=\"content_image\" alt=\"Apple iPhoto-style Maps\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"wp-photos\/2012-03-17\/apple_maps_02.png\" class=\"content_image\" alt=\"Apple iPhoto-style Maps\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luckily for people who don&#8217;t own iOS devices, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/refnum\/\" rel=\"external\">@refnum<\/a> hacked together a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.refnum.com\/tmp\/apple.html\" rel=\"external\">custom tile layer for the Google Maps API<\/a>, and it&#8217;s a pleasure to use. I hope Apple will use these maps for something more than decoration, but we&#8217;ll see what the future holds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> I had the screenshots wrong, my apologies.
